SPORTSOUTH ANNOUNCES APPALACHIAN STATE FOOTBALL REALITY SPECIAL

Under the Lights: Appalachian State Football – A Date with Destiny Debuts 9/15 at 10 p.m. ET

SportSouth today announced the debut of Under the Lights: Appalachian State – A Date with Destiny, a 60-minute all-access reality special chronicling the Appalachian State Mountaineers’ preparation for and historic victory over the University of Michigan on September 1. Under the Lights: Appalachian State Football – A Date with Destiny premieres on Saturday, September 15 at 10 p.m. ET on SportSouth.

A SportSouth camera and sound crew were embedded with the Appalachian State football team since August 1 to cover intense summer two-a-day practices, team meetings, the first day of classes on campus and all preparations leading up to the Mountaineers’ visit to the Big House. SportSouth presents never-before-seen footage of Head Coach Jerry Moore’s pre-game, halftime and post-game speeches, as well as the team’s reception upon their return to Boone. Wireless microphones worn by players in practice and coaches during the game provide unprecedented insight.

“Our goal was to document the two-time I-AA Appalachian State football champions as they took the national stage in front of 109,000 Michigan fans, and we ended up with an all-access, behind-the-scenes look at one of the greatest games in the history of college football,” said Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of FSN South and SportSouth. “From the beginning, this show was about telling a story, and with cameras on the field, in the team locker room and on the team buses and with players and coaches mic’d up; we captured the greatest David vs. Goliath story in college football history.”

Under the Lights: Appalachian State Football – A Date with Destiny debuts on Saturday, September 15 at 10 p.m. ET and reairs on Sunday, September 16 at 8 p.m. ET and Wednesday, September 19 at 7 p.m. ET.
